    I use moss on top of pots that are growing bulbs. It’s lovely to see the bulbs push up through the moss, and the green looks much better than bare soil over the winter. I also use it on pots of houseplants, especially those with standard stems.

    I adore moss and try to cultivate it wherever I can in my Florida garden. It can be difficult to keep it going here. I dream of an entire garden of just mosses and ferns! Heavenly

    Loved the title of your video! I remember Sterling Moss! For bees I find nice bits of wood or cloth to hang at the edge of water barrels, garden fountains, or ponds. Plant stems or leaves provide a way out, too…but they cannot swim far! A scrap of shade cloth is invisible just under the surface. Thanks for the good videos, I always enjoy them and the dogs in your garden, too!

    I loved hearing that about the bees! Southern California gets most of it's rain this time of year (not as bad as Central and Northern this year), and moss is growing everywhere. It's always a treat to see it, like salamanders, which I often find nearby when it's been really wet. I'm not sure the type, but on the retaining walls up the hill, the moss seems to have sprouted tiny leaves or flowers on stems. The color is so vibrant, like your shirt. Because it's drought tolerant, many people here grow rosemary in hedges, as shrubs, or spilling over walls, and right now every plant is covered with blue flowers. The bees are so happy!

    And to think I complain about the bad quality of the moss in my garden. I like to make moss balls to put by the pond. I must say, though, that it is improving with each year. 🙂

    I was going to plant moss this spring in a very shady area, but this recent ice storm took out so many trees and branches, that area is now in direct sunlight. Ok...Lawn it will be!

    It is a good idea to put the moss down for the bees to cling too. Sometimes we put rocks or pebbles in shallow pools to help the bees too since it gives the bees a place to stand to drink the water, but I like the moss idea better. We will try that.

    I'm looking into planting a garden in a mossy/shady area (the turf is almost.lost to the moss in this space)
    Are there perennials and shrubs that would do well growing in an area colonized by moss? I'm figuring ferns and woodland perennials... Zone 7 USA

    Lose, it Bunny 😉 the conflation of loose with lose is so odd to anyone that has English as a second language.

    I had no idea that one could use a form of glue, to do that exactly, glue moss to a concrete sphere. What sort of glue exactly? So interesting. Thank you.

    Not good to be treating or addressing a lawn in very cold weather - under frost.

    • @AleXiPL
      @AleXiPL Год назад +1

      The best time to grow mosses is from late autumn to late spring. Moss can deal with frost easily as long as it won't be drenched when frost comes. Then, because of the expansion of ice, it will damage the cells inside. Bar that, it will be fine.
